I couldn't agree more. Maya Rudolph can be as great as the writers allow her to be. Her middle school character, where she and "Aaron" read school announcements, is perfect.
And you hit it on the head with Horatio Saenz. Why doesn't anyone tell him that breaking character is NOT FUNNY!!!! Especially, the ten thousandth time.
But one guy, who along with Amy Proelher, is funny is the guy who played the deaf comedian on the weekend update. He's going to shine somewhere. I hope SNL/Lorne Michaels realizes his potential.
Finally, why doesn't Darrell whateverhisnameis just leave the show? Not that he's not funny, but he gets four minutes a show.
What's he doing it for, the paycheck?

... who you are refering to. He is very funny in most of what he does (The recurring sketch where he plays Prince and Maya Rudolph is Beyonce is always amusing.)
I agree that Maya is above average.... but the rest of the comments in the thread on SNL are right on the mark. And Saturday's show was just plain dull.
BTW, that skit... where Armisen played the racist, deaf comedian during Weekend Update... was virtually identical to one from earlier this season, even down to the jokes themselves. It's like the writers just ran out of gas this season, or they're mailing it in, or both.
