was very good, in my opinion. The sketches revolving around the 2004 presidential campaign were even handed and funny.
I think Hammond and Poehler are the best cast members, with Horatio and Mya Rudolph the weak links.
And I agree with earlier comments about how awful "Weekend Update" has become. Cracking wise about the news of the day shouldn't be that difficult, but one anchor's personal agenda seems to get in the way. |

...who think SNL is in a downward mode. Very little is funny. I disagree about Maya Rudolph being a weak link. She's strong in that over-the-top impersonation stuff. If only they'd write those bits better.
Horatio seems like he has so much potential -- but have you seen a scene where he HASN'T broken character and laughed?
As for guest hosts -- some seem to really thrive in the live-sketch format. Surprisingly so. I was caught off guard by Justin Timberlake and Ashton Kutcher -- two guys whose work I normally wouldn't give a second thought to. Too many other just stink and it's aweful when you see they're actually reading off the cue-cards.
(have to say I really liked the spoof on Extreme Makeover home edition a few weeks ago)
It just doesn't feel like they have the pulse of the nation.
