In Reply To: It's not just a Hearst thing or a Sacramento thing, it's an NBC digital sub-channel that offers 24-hour weather for all of the affiliates. It's local's choice as to how much they do with it...all national with local temps/forecast as text on screen, or full cutins for local material. It seems to me that they are just trying to get people to know that it exists. That's why they keep 'pimping' it by called the weather team, the Weather Plus Meteorologists.
Message: I don't think Jon Kelly would have allowed KCRA to take part in this. Sort of like the late 70's and early 80's when NBC prime time programing was so bad KCRA ran THEIR public affairs shows instead. Last numbers I saw, as of the end of 2004, only 10% of the households in the market had DTVs, so seems kind of a wasted effort. No doubt the FCC is going to extend the December 2006 phase out of analog.....since the law required 85% of the households to have DTV before analog can go away.
