Maybe we should get together for a beer sometime because my fingers would cramp trying to adequately respond to your last post. I'll try to be brief.
Personally, I come to work each day to try to do a better job than I did yesterday - that's my main motivation.. maybe you and your UO professor are different.
The average car salesman gripes about his boss too. Please point me to the workplace where the boss is loved and all the "worker bees" are happy. BTW, I would seriously doubt the "average" car salesman at Tonkin makes more than KGW's highest paid reporters. Possible? yes.. not sure its true though.
I'm not waving the management flag twrecks. I'm saying -- at some point take control of your life and your happiness. If you're so miserable that you're posting on message boards and griping to your competitors in the field, find a better situation for yourself, whether it's another station or another line of work. I'm not directing this at only you but at all your fellow complainers at KGW and elsewhere. KGW is a good newsroom in a good city. I believe most people there feel that way. Are there problems? absolutely. But if you want to work in TV news in Portland - there's no better place. |

KGW is the best place to work in Portland. No question.
But even KGW could be better to its union employees, and that would force the other stations to step up as well.
Actually, I don't know about KPTV, maybe everyone loves that place.
One show a day, sweet.
