WLNE -
AFTER MORE THAN A DAY IN THE DARK, ABC 6 IS FINALLY BACK ON THE AIR.
OUR ANALOG TRANSMISSION LINE SUFFERED A BURNOUT SOMETIME WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON,CAUSING CHANNEL 6 TO GO OFF THE AIR.
THOSE OF YOU WITH CABLE NEVER NOTICED,BUT ANYONE WATCHING WITHOUT CABLE WAS NOT ABLE TO SEE ABC 6 UNTIL EARLIER TONIGHT.
TO THE HUNDREDS OF VIEWERS WHO CALLED OR E-MAILED US ABOUT THE PROBLEM, WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE.
WE ARE ALSO BACK ON THE RADIO AT 87 POINT SEVEN FM.
THAT SIGNAL WAS ALSO AFFECTED BY THE BURNOUT
ABC6 will re-air "LOST" on Saturday, May 7 in the 5:00pm - 6:00pm time period. The original episode aired on Wednesday evening.

..of a similar story years ago.
our station did a half-hour at 5 pm and another at 6 on weekdays.
around 5:40 pm, the switcher crashed... after scrambling to fix it (and failing), management decided they couldn't do a live show at 6.
so they re-cued the 5 pm aircheck and ran THAT.
here's the punch line: the re-cued show did a GREAT number, much better than when it aired the first time... and we were a #3 station.
so the joke became: 'we finally figured out what people want at 6; they want the FIVE.'
