Message: Thanks for all the responses. What I was really looking for was an answer to whether the audiences in the larger markets are more discerning, and therefore wouldn't stand for lesser talent, or whether it's simply an economics issue. The more money, the more talent and, at least in theory, the better talent gets the job. Is it the market that instigates the need for the 'higher' talent level or is it the talent that drives the equation? Can you stick crappy talent in a major market and get away with it? In other words, is the larger market audience discerning enough to A. know talent and B. care about it.
