Are the higher talented on-air personalities employed at the larger, city markets because larger markets are more sophisticated and higher talent is required? Or is it because the larger markets pay more (due to more income) and the better you are the more you can make? |

More money means more applicants for openings. The larger talent pool means picking the best of the best as opposed to picking the best of "what's available".
Ability and salary are not always tied together. I know some really talented people working in small markets making peanuts compared to some highly over-rated big market "talent" who would go broke if they were paid according to their talent level.
