Starter markets don't exsist anymore. Try top 30's. Forget "paying your dues." TV news isn't about experience. It's about young, dumb and CHEAP. |

The proliferation of LOCAL 24 hour cable outlets like Time Warner, Bright House, and others have made many a top 20 market entry level.
They don't pay well, the level of anchors, reporters, photogs, producers, et. al is below the net affils they compete with.
But they offer chances to work in some good locations with little or no experience.
And big market experience looks good on the resume.
