In Reply To: I have to agree with bjorn50 that the best place is the one that will give you a chance. My first gig was in a 137 as an Assignments Ed, and it sucked. News Director on crack and so much crime you didn't want to go out after dark. The pasific northwest is a great place to get your feet under you. Good people and micro-breweries abound. I've heard Missoula mentioned more than once on this thread but I have to disagree with that. I went to college there and I've seen the crap that passes for news at both KECI and KPAX, plus the U provides an endless stream of kids willing to do the job for next to nothing. I would have to second Yakima, or Spokane if you can get in there. But no matter where you start just learn all you can from those around you.
Message: If Yakima is your only opportunity, I suggest that you use your excellent reporting skills to thoroughly check the place out first. I was planning to go there and I kept hearing no, no, no, bad idea. They may say they are in the 120's, but in reality it should be 170. Word was also that hell was to nice of a discription for one of the stations. Luckily I found something better.
