Agreed.
That's like saying a mother can't go out and do a story involving a child.
Unreal.

What fine human beings all you posters are!!! Sheeesh...the guy was asking what to me, is an interesting ethical problem.
My advice is similar to the one kindly poster, who said to say this is an issue within your family, and leave it at that.
Now, if you want to play the game, and make your ND loooove you (at least for this week), tell him you'll come out about your addiction, live, on-air...tell him it'll be an EXCLUSIVE...and you'll have that guy doing back flips. And you can in fact, do that, IF you're okay with it, and IF you think it's not going to jeopardize your recovery. Two big IFs.
I personally would say, sorry, no can do. Get someone else, too close to home. And if the ND has an ounce of integrity, he'll be fine with it.
