In Reply To: WLOS-TV ran the following item about the pastor of a large Baptist church ex-communicating church members if they did not agree to repent at the altar. This is a funny 3-market DMA with Greenville and Spartanburg all in there. Has the story been reported on elsewhere either on TV or in print or radio? Here is the story: "East Waynesville Baptist asked nine members to leave. Now 40 more have left the church in protest. Former members say Pastor Chan Chandler gave them the ultimatum, saying if they didn't support George Bush, they should resign or repent. The minister declined an interview with News 13. But he did say "the actions were not politically motivated." There are questions about whether the bi-laws were followed when the members were thrown out." I think this is a big story. What about other coverage of it?
Message: So what if Pastor Cracker went off the deep end? WLOS is probably the last station in the market that can OBJECTIVELY report on this. WLOS is a Sinclair-owned station. Sinclair is well-known for having thrown Democrats out of its staff - that is, "if they didn't support George Bush, they should resign or repent." Need proof? Look no further than the jingoistic nonsense that on-air personalities were forced to recite after 9-11. And you only need to watch one Mark Hyman package to get "The Point" shoved down your throat. Pastor Cracker's motives may or may not have been politically motivated, but we know what Sinclair's motives are - especially if a profit can be made off of it. I think it'd be interesting to see what other stations in the region have to report on this.
