I have been assigned to do a story on an addiction that I am in recovery for. On the one hand, I know more about it than anyone. On the other, I am intimitely involved in the story. I really do not want to disclose something I consider so personal, but I also don't want to do something when there's a conflict of interest. Advice? |

You don't have to tell the boss that it is YOU. All you need to say is this is a difficult subject for you to cover because of a personal experience in your family, and you would prefer not to do this one. If he presses you for details, just say you are not comfortable talking about it.
