In Reply To: Never give management any reason to be mad at you. They'll remember it at contract renewal time, or sooner.
Message: As an experienced Substance Abuse Counselor I must say that it is a great opportunity for a reporter to take on an assignment of such nature. This represents an opportunity to gain further insight into your issues, remember: YOUR ISSUES. As a creative professional, start to analyze how addressing this topic can help you grow at both levels personal and professional. You are already an expert on the matter, so who better than you to tackle it? Just make sure you focus on how you handle your feelings and possible mixed emotions which may flair up if the stories you get share similarities with yours. Go ahead, keep your recovery to yourself, Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob intended the A.A. tradition to be kept anonymous, however, through the growth gained by embracing the 12 steps, it must show through your actions, that you are in fact, a better human being. The whole world does not have to know that your expertise, your touch, your enlightenment, etc. derive from having fell to an addiction (apparently, successfully addresed). I think bxhss said better before me: Shut up and do the story. P.S.: You'll be glad you did!
