any idea about the pay for reporters and anchors in the Panama City area?

Pay for any small market 1st job will be horrible, probably less than 20k. You have to look at it as going to graduate school, but you are getting paid. There will be a bunch of others in the same boat, and there are lots of ways to have fun without spending a lot of money.
I'm sure there are many more folks who have moved on and up from these small markets, and later on look back with much fondness on those times. Just remember, it's an opportunity to learn, so be sure you do.
