I have many friends who once worked or who continue to work in the Portland ME market. One friend was offered a M-F anchor job there a few years ago with salary around $85k -- it was not a primary job though. Reporters' salaries vary depending on experience and the station. WCSH pays good, but the anchors and top reporters have been there FOREVER. I've hard the long-time main anchors at 'CSH are in the $150k - $200k range. Typical reporter salary aroudn $50k - $75k depending. Other stations hire very YOUNG reporters for $30 - $40k. |

Cut your salary figures in half and you'll be in the ballpark. There's maybe one anchor in this market who's doing more than 100K. Reporters earn from 25K to 50K, give or take a few thousand and regardless of the station. I find it hard to believe that anyone was offered a B team anchor slot at any station in this market for 85K.
