In Reply To: I'm just saying that many folk who bring up this topic of 4-year degree vs. MSU are often mets that feel they are OWED something and that they (we) should be the only ones on TV and someone MSUers shouldn't be allowed at all. There's still no good definition of a met. Heck, if you use the NWS one, I'm one of only 3 in my market...and none of us are a chief. I feel that I am a very good communicator, and yes, I have that 4-year met degree and I know others who are very good at it too. I can't generalize in this way as others can't generalize about MSU mets or other what we might call non-degree mets. Until there is some sort of license or certification for mets, this is and will be a moot argument. People will always flock to the good communicators first, but as I said in my previous post, God help you if you lead them astray during nasty weather. That will happen more often with someone who doesn't know the meteorology, but I have also seen some degreed mets lose it during heavy weather too. A degree will not attract viewers, plain and simple.
Message: This wil be the new standard that will separate mets from wxcasters.
