I saw the "Tapes of Wrath" that seems to fit this description. I'll look around and see if there's a copy about. I don't think we still have it here at the radio ranch... |

There are 2 legendary Satirical videos on the local news business, both are great.
That Tapes of Wrath is a collection of video clips of newsmakers gaffes etc set to the Don Henley Song "Dirty Laundry" I am no expert on the tape, but I think a Washington Buro put it together in the late 80's for a DC correspondent's dinner. The best scene in it is a gathering on the White House lawn of a bunch of little kids, maybe 5 year olds, I don't recall if the President is there or not, and a little kid on the back row stands up and drops his pants and proudly waves his nakedness. It was a classic, but I have not seen it for maybe a dozen years.
Bus Full of Nuns - Again, I am no expert, but I did see it maybe 10 years ago. It starts with a reporter (or maybe an assignement editor) singing about listening to the scanner, then he hears about a bus accident, then hears the bus is full of nuns... then that the nuns were holding babies. It was well produced, with (what I assume are newsroom employees) singing and dancing, some dressed like nuns holding babies. It was just satire on how we sometimes get excited about spot news and tend to forget about the human tragety behind it. I can still hear the chorus in my mind "it was a bus full of nuns holding babies... it was a bus full of nuns holding babies.. "
Both videos are absolute classics... and should be required viewing for all newsroom personel!
I hope someone has old copies and can somehow upload them to a website so we can all share them with the young pups in the newsroom.
