In Reply To: Microsoft bailing out of this losing venture; Bill Gates is apparently tired of dumping tens of millions of dollars into this broadcast hole, with little to show for his investment. There have been off-and-on rumors that Gates would pull the plug for at least two years; I'm surprised he waited this long. That raises another question: without Microsoft to paper over the losses, how long will NBC keep throwing its money into the "News Channel?" One more thought: I wonder if FNC will try to strike a deal with Microsoft for the unit which helped maintain the MSNBC website? FNC's website is terrible; Microsoft could give them a hand with design and content, and FNC could deliver a lot of visitors.
Message: My understanding is, thanks in large measure to the .com side of things, MSNBC is making a modest profit or at least breaking even. If that's the case then NBC will continue it.
