In Reply To: The market does not pay like it's market 47. In some positions, namely the reporter ranks, the talent levels is dropping to more like market 90-100 (younger, cheaper talent). If you like covering lots of crime, great. The crime here really isn't any different than any other bigger city...it's just that several years back, the powers that be at the stations got the idea that people like to see crime news, and now they over do it. Newscasts here are more like an episode of "Cops." As for the area, there's a lot of natural beauty surrounding it, with mountains and desert...some real hidden gems around in that regard. For that, the place will grow on you.
Message: you can't pay the bills with sunshine and mountains. those who do well there are either locals who don't want to go anywhere else , or anchor-types who make enough jack to have a high quality of life. if you're in a lower-end production, news, or engineering position you'd be better off looking elsewhere, unless you've taken a vow of poverty!
