In Reply To: What would I have done? Tell the coach that his commentary is offensive, then maybe talk to an OU official about what transpired during the off-camera exchange. The ESPN producers are all about milking any potential controversy for what it may or may not be worth. In this case, it's a serious issue. But what about the next time ESPN decides to play the moral authority?? What if they get the story wrong? The Fischer/Schapp report caught my eye as ESPN attempting some sort of last word for the late Dick Schapp. Not the role of a sports network, in my opinion. ESPN later reported that Fischer could've violated hate-speech laws and thus be prosecuted for his comments during a recent press conference, due in part to answering Jeremy Schapp's severely charged accusations/questions is an outrage to me. Sure, Fischer's view of the world is disturbing, but what the hell is ESPN doing, trying to play Johnny Law??? Get revenge on your own time. Meantime, the Brewers are riding a four-game winning streak. Maybe Jeremy Schapp can blow the lid on Milwaukee fans incorrectly believing the "Ooooooooooooo" chant for Lyle Overbay is accurate, since the opening of "Swingtown" by the Steve Miller Band is "Whooo-oooohhhhhh--oh-oh-oh-oh," with a W. Schapp: "His name isn't Lyle Woverbay, is it? I made a journey to Miller Park, in search of answers, some explanation..." Look out, Brewers sound guy. Jeremy's got a scoop...
Message: Hmmmmmmm......Interesting. Let me ask you a question. Do you hear music in your head? Yeah, you would have told Coach Cochelle that using the 'n' word was personally offensive and left it at that. Meanwhile, this guy would have gone out and continued to recruit Black players by selling them an absolutely blatant line of "the best person for the job" jive. When you could have stopped the train, you would have just shaken your head and said, "That train's goin' too fast. Someone's gonna 'git hurt". Criqui, I'm not sure you and I will ever agree on anything. And your last post reflects, once again, that there's a sign in your eyes that reads, "Room For Rent." Nevertheless, I respect your right to say it. Debate is good.
