Same thing here. You really have to wonder what is going on when ABC takes a shot at a talent show. If this is what the American viewing public "wants" then we are in real trouble.

American viewers have no choice in what newsrooms consider "important" stories and how much coverage they're plastered with. Viewers get what they get. Network and cable newsrooms create what is supposed to be important, and viewers have to follow. That "viewer interest" that producers and NDs harp about is no more than a feather in the wind.
It's why cable news was able to hammer a stake into the heart of network news.
And now, it's why cable news viewership has been draining slowly.
By the time producers and NDs figure out what that smoke in the horizon means, they'll be crawling on each other's back to stay alive.
