Leading with a missing bride while another half dozen American are killed in Iraq.
30 years after the fall of Siagon and not one mention.
Congress spending money like drunk sailors.
Gas prices through the roof.
And the "news" of the day is a run-away bride?
The news should be about what impacts the greatest number of viewers not the "sexiest" story. |

Your points are valid, and of course 'bride' shouldn't be a lead, but if you ignore stories like this, you're not providing what viewers want. What does a kid down a well in Texas have to do with people in my market? Nothing, except for the great story it involves.
There's a problem if stations continue their dishonest practice of running stories like weird weather or other disconnected stories and teasing like it's local. But after you've told some great local stories with your resources, captivating video and great stories from somewhere else expand a viewer's world. Which is also a nice accomplishment.
