This was posted to the WFSB message board. This is unexcusable. I saw pictures of this tree limb on WFSB. It was hollowed out.
On Thursday night, WFSB claimed that ferocious winds caused damage during a thunderstorm. They start running it on the screen during CSI NY like it is some kind of new story. Then, the claim is made that this is breaking news and that Len Bestof is on his way to the scene. All of this leads up to something that happened hours ago (the pictures shown were from daylight hours), but is somehow "Breaking News." The real kicker is that a dead tree limb came down. The limb was clearly dead judging by the pictures on WFSB. C'mon! A dead tree limb can fall at any time. The winds never reached more than 40 mph. "CL&P is racing to restore power..." to ONE CUSTOMER without power (although the ONE CUSTOMER part was left out). On Friday morning, Haney is talking about examining the "field of damage" from the storm. Are you kidding me? One dead tree limb down, one customer without power and you people make it sound like Armageddon! It is unfortunate that the viewers fall for blatant lies. |

What on earth are you talking about? Did you actually see this? First of all it was all night video. what day video did you see (the follow up vo on Friday?) It was 3 streets with more than one tree down. Cars were totalled. I never heard them say crews were racing to restore power. I actually specifically remember Len Besthoff saying it was amazing nobody but 1 home lost power. I saw the video too, nothing was hollowed out. You obviously didn't see this. Or, you are the competition that got beat fair and square on legit weather damage.
