...but I am fascinated by the story. Why did she do it? Is her family or is she going to pay for the cost of looking for her? Is she going to be charged with anything?
Now, I'm not saying that is should be the lead in every newcast across the country. In fact the other two stations in our market led with it, and we confined it to the second block yesterday.
As for 2001:
It took 911 to wake people up about terrorism. If we were covering the threat of terrorism in the summer of 2001, no one would have cared. It's that "it can't happen to me attitude". Ask yourself this...How many stories about how vulnerable our ports are have you seen in the last few years? Has there been an outcry about it? Has anything changed?
BTW, I have seen a lot of other issues covered recently...social security, Iraq attacks...etc. I guess you are not watching the same newcasts as I am.

Meanwhile the only thing people care about is that stupid fixed show American Idol Scandal..reality tv and this ridiculous run away bride woman who LIED to cops telling them she was kidnapped by an hispanic and a black...and no one says anything??
You'll find out enough about her when she writes the book, appears on tabloid shows...you know the drill.
The fact of the matter is this..Walter Cronkite said people today don't care about news they want CELEBRITY stuff and entertainment 24/7.
There's a place for entertainment but ALL DAY yesterday FNC, CNN, MSNBC and other morning shows did nothing but this "bride" story..which holds NO interest to me...they devoted less time to the kid who was handcuffed...oh..and did you hear another child was handcuffed by cops..a 7-year-old? Also black ..this is sick and no one cares!
Real reporters ad journalists should be getting to this North Korea story...that's the real threat folks.
