QYB is right, this idiot is grasping at straws. Somebody made him a manager, now he's trying to manage. If you argue he'll come after you harder and tell his higher-ups you're not a "team player". Smile, nod and move on. |

OK, maybe idiot is a little harsh, but consider this. Anyone who belittles one style in favor of another is only showing his lack of experience. Style should follow content. Period. Well-composed, solid video will serve you well whatever the story. Ratchet up the pace when the story demands it.
Go nuts, shoot blue, flip the camera upside down, but only if it is driven by the storyline.
As far as starting a dialogue with someone who dictates one style over another? Tell him thanks for the advice and
hope he finds someone else to "coach".
