Interesting stuff, azviewer. How was her weathercast? Was she fun and interesting? How'd she look?
Just curious. While their methods of filling this position seem odd to me, I'd love to be the next to try out! |

How far has this business sunk to have the morons running news departments turn employment into a game show? How desperate are people to get TV jobs that they will allow their lives and careers to be turned into a ratings gimmick? This is like one of those old westerns where the town drunk dances for whiskey money. Experienced and educated professionals should not be subjected to a contest judged by an audience looking for a localized version of "American Idol". It's tough enough trying to get noticed by incompetent ND's who don't know their ass from a hole in the ground, but to be in a contest where the ultimate winner will be the woman with the largest boobs or the guy with the dumbest wisecrack, no thanks. I wish these people would pull out their last shred of dignity and give management the Jon Stewart line, "I'M...NOT...YOUR...MONKEY!" If management wants to do off air focus groups or intense interviewing, fine. But handing off such a big responsibility to viewers is just plain stupid. What if the viewers pick someone who turns out to be terrible? KTLA hired their weatherperson through auditions, advertising that appicants need NO prior broadcast experience. In the #2 market!!! They ended up hiring an actor from Scotland. No wonder this business has lost so much trust with the public. How about firing the dumb ass ND at the station and letting the newsroom pick someone who has a triple digit IQ?
