She hops a bus for Vegas and calls the cops in Albuquerque. Next time I need a ride from a 7-Eleven in Alb. I'll just make up a story and call 911. I say prosecute her in NM and GA.
By the way...the media would never have run wild with the story if the GA cops and family hadn't pulled out all the stops to find her. The fact that she was getting married in days was the ultimate fuel for the story. Here's a brainstorm for those of you who don't like the coverage...don't watch. The replays of congress are still coming in fine on CSPAN on my cable TV. |

You said "Here's a brainstorm for those of you who don't like the coverage...don't watch."
The fact that most of us are news people, combined with the fact that we still care enough to come to forums such as this to discuss our profession, make it virtually impossible to follow your suggestion.
We watch because it's who we are and what we do. We watch so that we can develop opinions and interject them into our thought processes going forward. So, because we do watch, perhaps it'll somehow make our future coverage decisions just that much better.
Besides, I occasionally watch CSPAN as well. Try and catch the annual Correspondents Dinner for a remarkable look at what a no-holds barred, relaxed atmosphere can create!
