Liz Vargas promised a "statement from Peter Jennings" at the end of World News Tonight this evening.
It wound up being Liz reading a couple of sentences from a statement Jennings has posted to ABCNews.com .
If he can't deliver it on the air, or have his face on camera even as a still -- it would at least appear to not look promising.
I do hope I'm wrong.
