My attention span is real short on 'the sky is falling' rants like this.
It's easy to get frustrated, but what's new about this paranoia over news?
Murrow's entertainment shows got more eyeballs than his hard pieces. And most 'casts I see still have a capsule news content that includes the kind of reporting 'pro-duce' seems to think has become the do-do bird.
To be true, the original contention would have to be true, that TV News was EVER about the news. Actually, the core content of hard stories is about the same as previous years, and there are more efficient technologies to tell them.
There's still plenty of people who want & watch news, just like there's a core readership for papers and other print media. And there are plenty of people still telling good stories. If that's not the case where the sky has fallen on you, maybe it's time to change scenery...
