In Reply To: "That's what Fox [News] has been doing ?? discussing stories that you're already familiar with. Now we've started doing stories in our way, not just by talking about them but reporting them in greater depth." Translation: What fox does works, we(CNN) think we can do it better by REPORTING INSTEAD OF TALKING ABOUT THE STORIES.
Message: He says "midevening," but midevening where? and when, exactly is midevening? Going by the usual definition of "newscast," Wolf Blitzer Reports is the final newscast on CNN. That airs at 5pm Eastern Time, which is 2pm Pacific Time. Is THAT midevening? (That would also make the evening network newscasts irrelevant, even though the viewership of those dwarfs the cable viewership.) We should also not forget that, even though many people do check the internet throughout the day, more people do not and may like a "newscast" in primetime. After all, it's called primetime for a reason. And, let's face it, there are no real newscasts on CNN or Fox in primetime. Even "Newsnight" is not a "news" show anymore.
