Then join NPR or PBS. This is a business. Its about numbers and the bottom line and crying about the days of journalism being a "calling" is overrated. If you are not happy with the business, leave. There are plenty of people willing to take over and "earn a paycheck" which is what the work world has always been about. If you want to blame someone for the current state of journalism, then blame the fickle viewers who prefer reality TV to a presidential news conference. |

Not to be dramatic or anything, but it is that kind of attitude which is making so many people miserable in this business. We can do quality and still bring viewers to the set. But it takes dedication, something you probably do not have right now. Fickle viewers? I say fickle news directors, general managers, producers, and reporters.
