In Reply To: SouthernKim, I never said that you did or did not vote for Bush Lite, nor did I assume you did. But I just simply adore that hackneyed 'assume' line. It's precious. Keep it for your newscast. Maybe Bush's RARE press conferences wouldn't be such a big deal if he didn't make an intentional and concerted effort to shut out the press on a regular basis, as when the sh*t hits the fan. Now, all of a sudden, after 2 months of failing to sell the American public on his Social Security / Investment bank enrichment scheme, now we need a press conference. Sure, you can ASSUME that the White House didn't know about May sweeps. They strike you as a non-media-savvy group, do they? Also, Bush has his SOTU and his bully pulpit, not to mention GOP rallies masked as "town squares", to promote his highly unpopular agenda, so why interrupt "The O.C."? As for your quaint belief in "a law that states the airwaves must provide a public service...", I simply refer to Exhibit A: Sinclair.
Message: You said I had a red state name and then there was this..."You DO care what everyone's politics are, you hypocrite. If it was Bill Clinton I'd bet that you'd be bitching and whining that Slick Willy was keeping you from watching "Friends"." Sounds as though you're accusing me of being a Republican when you don't know. The fact is newtwork news shows are stuggling. Do they want to be completely and utterly irrelevent by not carrying the president or cutting him off? This would have been absolutely unthinkable four or five years ago. It's astounding to me that anyone would cut off the president in mid-sentence, as NBC did last night.
