As others have mentioned, 3-TV does win the ratings for mornings, and evenings. Good Morning Arizona was created when they lost ABC affiliation and had to fill the GMA timeslot. Today is is four hours of repeated stories, a wanna be comedian who does his interpretation of the weather while pushing the envelope and a number of hosts/reporters that have been on the show for 5 or more years. Good Evening Arizona runs from 4:30pm to 6:30pm. The first half hour is fluff instead of getting a jump on the rest of the market who don't start until 5.
My take on why they do well is that most stations do local stuff and then go to the network shows(Today, GMA, etc.). These shows are 2 to 3 hours old when they air here and most of the stories have already aired in the local segments. With 3-TV you can stay on one channel for the entire show and might see something good.
KTVK was owned by Jewell and Delbert Lewis until purchased by Belo. Belo has not made alot of changes except to add 1/2 hour news shows at 8 and 9pm as well as their 10pm news. I have read stories about other Belo stations (namely the Dallas station) that seems to be a Titantic waiting for the iceburg. |

KTVK is auditioning weekend weather talent throughout the month of May. The viewers will be able to vote on the stations website (azfamily.com). I heard that this weekends talent comes from south Florida.
