this is a subjective biz and talented people get passed over and less talented ones promoted, it's also true that true talent usually does rise to the bigger markets. No matter what market you are in, you are seen or known about by a lot more people than you know. Over the years I've had several offers and not once did I even know there was an opening, even though all of them were from markets 4-40. If you're good, they will find you. That doesn't mean you should be discouraged, because persistance often pays off. But at some point, you also have to be realistic.
