As long as those long breaks come after 17:30 or 47:30 in the show in metered markets, it may not hurt the ratings. |

long commercial breaks do indeed hurt the ratings. Especoially in news shows. Breaks longer than 3 minutes are a turnoff, and the younger the viewer, the shorter they will put up with the breaks, especially lousey local spots.
