No...you could never pay me enough to work there.
I live here and am in the news business and watch all the stations all the time...and can't believe the nosedive NBC has taken. They used to be good several years ago...they've really slipped. Its sad to see that happen. |

...is it a story? Not really. I think if they wanted to REALLY do the story, they'd focus on another couple. Her pregnancy could be a side-bar or a lead-in to peak interest. Personally, when I was pregnant I did a whole series of pregnancy related stories. Not about MY pregnancy, but found topics of interest for parents, parents-to-be. They ran during my maternity leave so I never was really "off-air".
A couple of things bother me, though. When did we as journalists leave the world of being "real" people? This person's pregnancy issues match those of other people. And come on, people will tune into a story more if they feel they "know" someone involved. While I don't feel comfortable being the news (old school journalism) -- not everyone feels the same way.
And don't think that everyone who's had or has fertility problems knows what's all out there. They may not. Just because everyone should know to slow down when it snows, doesn't mean we don't make that warning every year when the first snow storm hits.
What would be good is if this anchor would do a story about the latest medical technology regarding pregnancy, not HER pregnancy.
