#1 - WRAL - privately-owned CBS affilliate - first place in the world to produce an all HD newscast. great place to work. RAL also produces the news for WRAZ the Fox affilliate. Both RAL and RAZ are owned by Capitol Broadcasting.
#2 - WTVD - ABC O&O - not a bad place but way too much emphasis on "breaking news" and sensationalizing EVERYTHING
#3 - WNCN - NBC O&O - respectable station which tries in earnest to be a quality station but lacks money and resources (no helicopter often cripples their coverage of big events. RAL and TVD both have them)
#4 - WLFL - Sinclair owned WB affillitate. Apart of the Newscentral setup and therefore has no more than 4 reporters and two anchors. All they produce is a 10 pm newscast and it is a horrible newscast with information that was "new" 2 days ago. avoid at all costs!
News 14 - 24-hour Time Warner owned station. Good overall, especially for those just starting out. But you better be wary of the TWC downsizing (News 14 Charlotte got axed recently and Raleigh could be next) |

Does anyone know what the anchor payscale is? sounds like the reporters are poorly compensated. What is the low and high range of the main anchor seat?
Contract's up in a few months..any spots available at any of the stations?
