Which way best to get to strat consulting? |

I am currently considering two very different offers:
1) Unilever - working in marketing for one of their CPG brands
2) IBM BS - working in CRM / Business Intelligence division, the position is more strategic than most but still IT heavy, entry level
My long term goal is to get into strategic consulting with top firm (mck/bain/etc) after I get my MBA in a few years. I was hoping to get some advice from strat consultants out there as to what experience is more valuable?
I have heard some strat cons firms value client side experience, where as others have told me I should get my foot in the door in consulting and move from there.
Thanks in advance for any insight.
