Do you like working for State Street? And how is the benefits |

I was a fund admin intern in the boston office last summer focusing on financial reporting for mutual funds. I can say without question it was among the dullest and least challenging positions I've ever taken on. The nature of the position's duties was menial, focused primarily on data mining and entry. During my three months there, at least two employees left for other companies. The offer for a full time position this year was very low compared to competitor firms, as well as compared to other industries I was interested in.
However, there is definitely a bright side to working at State Street. I found that most of my coworkers were fairly intelligent, congenial folks. I liked most of my managers and found that the majority of workplace issues were because of faulty incentives systems imposed downwards.
Because of the work I had done during my internship, I got a great letter of rec from my AVP. That letter eventually led me to a better position in a different industry.
In all, State Street isn't the best or the worst place to start a career. True the work sucks. However, it's still possible to leverage that experience into better positions. Better to have started out in a good place, but if that's not an option, it's not the worst place to go.
