I feel very sorry for smokers. They are addicted, plain and simple. Nicotine is a terrible drug. It enslaves and sickens people and irritates others who have managed to avoid it or quit using. If tobacco had come upon the scene in the 20th century instead of the 14th, it would be restricted to medicinal applications only, and under tight, government control. Ironic, isn't it, how our society picks and chooses its poison? |

Has anyone looks at the local, state and federal tax implications of tobacco? Our Feds speak with forked tongue. On the one hand they insist that the industry pays for advertising that encourages people not to smoke, on the other the fund many, many programs with taxes paid by tobacco companies. You don't like having to put up with smokers in your office? Call your senator and ask him to make it illegal!
