Sears asset is just horrible. The raises and performance measuring indicators are a joke and it's all politics to get to any kind of upper level management job. The turnover is insane and the average lifetime for a manager is less than one year. Never work there. |

I would agree that politics plays a part in getting a management job, but that can be true at any company. If you are a bad or so-so performer you will go no where at Sears. I work in the Customer Care Network (call centers) and I enjoy it. Work hours are flexable but pay is below average. Bonuses can be a real plus. Sears does not train very often, but when they do it is usefull and good. I know about 20 managers and most have been with Sears for several years. Performance measures, as you say, are not done well, its more of a game of who gets a 5% raise and who get a 3%, its all decided by your direct manager. Performance is rated on a scale of 1 to 5. A 1 will get you walked out the door and a 5 is called "walking on water" (not possable).
