any ideas on what a first year analysts bonus might look like in commodities (obviously depends on profits but any ideas?).... also, if first years get their bonus in february (6-7 months after they start does that mean that their first bonus is usually smaller?

I haven't heard of many "analyst" positions in commodities (excluding energy) except at GS and there are usually very few slots, if any.
If you're talking about energy, I can't give you a number. There have been very few bonuses given in the last couple of years. Before that, I would say that they ranged from 10-50% of base.
Yes, bonuses are generally based on time served, not an entire year.
