I have got an internship with a top 5 investment bank in London and will be working as a trader on the Fixed Income desks (two desks actually, bonds and swaps). I was wondering what happens to traders after 10 years in the job. Do they stop trading after a while and do an MBA or maybe go into politics. As you can probably tell I haven't got a clue so if you could enlighten me. Also, is Fixed Income trading seen as being better than equities (i.e. do you have to be smarter to do one of them, and does one pay more) or the other way round? Thanks.
