in the context of a "proprietary trading" firm such as First New York Securities.
Although some positions are carried overnight, its traders apparently mostly daytrade, using the firm's capital only.
The company has been in business since 1985, is growing, apparently had one of its best years ever in last year's bear market, and pays and trains its new employees for about 15 months before letting them trade on their own with the firm's capital.
Again, assuming that the trader is successful in such a firm, what career options might he subsequently have? |

If you're successful with daytrading, why would you ever quit. Easiest way to make money without dealing with corporate b.s.
If you suck, then you aren't going to land a job anywhere on Wall Street anyways. So basically it's a moot point.
