Thanks for the input. Like howardroark I have multiple licenses including the 55, but (unlike him) no real trading experience. My understanding is that, particularly w/ BBs, making the leap from a assistant to a full-fledged trader is tough and rarely happens. Have you seen this happen personally or know of anyone that's made the transition? Also, I keep hearing that an MBA might actually hurt your chances - is this true? Any info. much appreciated. I've been trying to break into S+T for 2 years on the side while I've been working. Any input would be much appreciated.
Thanks again,

I'm not in trading but have talked to people who were. One guy (working in operations) said it all when he said that S&T jobs either have to be just handed to you (ie Ivy league recruiting, or awsume connections) or you have to work your ASS off for years in a nothing job (ie middle office or trading assistant) and even then its ify. I would think its fair to say that most TA's don't become traders.
In short you have to be either VERY lucky or come from an ivy school and still be very lucky to get the interview, and get the offer.
Just my take
