A Happy SIG Trader |

I can't believe Amex traders are complaining. They get to spend all day in a trading crowd, and only talk to Susq managers for a few minutes a day. Imagine what it is like in Bala (SIG headquarters), stuck staring at a screen, a few feet away from partners all day long. Not that any of them would speak to any of us, but still, it's much tougher to do as little as possible in Bala Cynwyd than in a trading crowd.
I've been told that this place didn't suck nearly as bad 5 years ago, but it sure has as long as I've been here, even when the company was making money. Because of the contract, I would definitely take no job at all rather than a trading job at SIG.
We've heard rumors (the only way we hear anything) that 1) the SIG trader on the AMEX mentioned in the first post has been fired and 2)SIG is suing The Vault to stop this thread. Any truth?

nd the non-compete itself? You knew what you were getting into when you signed it! You were told about it before you came on to work as an assistant!! If you are just justifying your paltry pay as coming from tyrannical overlords instead of facing the fact that you (likely) suck, so be it, but don't set applicants' teeth on edge with your sour grapes. I encourage *every* applicant to know what the contract says before signing it, but I am sure you will find, as many of us have, that the terms are more than reasonable for the education and experience you can get here (if you are not a lazy sh**). I am bid on the street, but have no desire to leave SIG right now. Instead of listening to a bunch of grumblers for your career advice, you should probably talk to people who actually work at SIG before decididng how far you want to go in the process. If you are loking for a firm without a non-compete, this isn't for you. If instead you are looking for a place where you can make a bright future and career for yourself, go to www.sig.com and apply for a job.
