I have heard different things about trading derivatives , the first that it is very complex and you have to be excellent in math and logic, and then that the average guy can trade derivatives with some hard work and that all that Game Theory and Applied mathematics is not needed. Does anyone know of any people with average intelligence levels trading derivatives. |

Structuring requires heavy math background. An average guy can't trade derivatives mostly because average guys can't trade. Derivatives are highly technical, and to trade you need an understanding of their mechanics, so as to predict movements/uses. If you are quantitative, trade derivs. Qualitative, then equities.
