Yeah, I got dinged by Susq also. Interview was great, answered all their "trick" card/probability questions, they loved my math background (math degree/business) and competitive nature (NCAA athlete), I knew more than most about derivatives (Black-Scholes, etc), I felt that I definitely fit the "mold" of a trader, I knew the company in and out, and (for all it's worth) I came from a top 10 school. And trust me, I'm not some arrogant asshole who feels that trading firms should come to me.....I worked very hard to get interviews from all the firms. But I was tossed aside. Jeez, it was worse than the IBs.......
Should I try again? Sure, I can try Helios, Cutler, Hull,
B of A, etc, but Susq's the best in the business. One of the reasons I like Susq was that they focused on the math/analytical abilities of their applicants, not connections or IVY-league status. So what should I do? Should I try again? Did I catch the recruiter on a bad day? If I got dinged before, does that end my chances of being an AT for Susq? Help me out guys..... |

My guess is that you're not very masculine. Not an insult, but traders look for a certain type of build and look...even though I played competitive sports in college, when I went in for a trading interview I was told that "I don't look like an athlete", whatever that means. That might have been your problem.
