In Reply To: Commodity analyst and/or trader Requires 3-5 years experience, preferably at a top commodity franchise like Goldman Sachs (J. Aron) or Morgan Stanley. Experience must include analysis and/or trading of commodity volatility, various commodity spreads (sparks, cracks, etc.) and relative value basis trades, forward curve trades, and other relative value/arbitrage relationships. Buyside and/or proprietary trading experience is a plus. There is a unique opportunity for the candidate to help create a new relative value business revolving around commodities in an established $700 mm+ relative value hedge. The fund already employs multiple other relative value/arbitrage strategies (convertible arbitrage, capital structure arbitrage and event-driven arbitrage) and is located in the Greater Los Angeles area.
Message: I'm interested in working as an unpaid intern for this fund for the summer(I know that's not what you're hiring for, but your client may be interested). I'm an undergraduate student and have some experience working on a quant arb desk at a european bank. However, have also personally been involved in trading commodities on relative value/quant basis, trading crack spread, crush spread and modeling the spark spread (too illiquid to trade, given my resources). I'm based out of NY but am willing to relocate to LA for the summer. If they're interested in more details, email everettvu@gmail.com .
