hey...i havent declared my major yet....i was thinking finance or econimics....what would best serve me in sales and/or trading ? What did you all major in? |

Sales/Trading? They don't care too much what you majored in, all they care about is if you "have it" to be a trader. But you want your academic background to showcase some quantitative and analytical skills. Both finance and economics are fairly appropriate, since you have other options if you don't like trading. I guess whatever you feel will make you a quick thinker, good numbers person, and sharp problem-solver. If I could do it all over again, I'd probably do a double math/econ major, with more emphasis on math. Finance? Man, my buddy works in a BB and he informed me that "finance training" (he was a engineering major) consisted of a 3-hour lecture on accounting and corporate finance. Just as long as you know how to analyze financial data....not too hard.
